i bought two balls of debbie bliss baby cashmerino this summer in skannateles for the hell of it because the cutie yarn shop was having a sale. the color is a complicated one. it looks green in fluorescent light and golden tan in natural light and my painter colormaster husband says it is a yellow with black in it. well it sat in the stash and made one guest appearance in an artist book this summer in the form of one block in a terribly ugly garter stitch scarf. now these two balls and a third friend (who's dyelot is certainly different but you'd never know) have joined forces in becoming cuffs and a collar, in my old standby, loop stitch, as a stand in for fur, which hi i just simply cannot do. cashmere, i can do, no one died, fur skeeves me, duh. the cuffs are completed and hopefully will fit around the wrists of the completed coat (a hybrid balenciaga knock off based on a like simplicity pattern from walmart but modified to acheive COUTURE-ITY.... yeah sure. it's a word if i say it is) as my final project for my costume construction class. the middle finger on my left hand is like erin i effing hate you stop knitting these insane loops it hurts me. almost there, finger. |
in other news, i am drinking pom wonderful tea, trying to figure gloves out in my head when my mind wanders, working on a crocheted scarf in two different ombres (varigated yarns, in this case, dumpy peaches and cream worsted cotton. a yellow one and a rainbow one, but it actually looks cute, i swear.), eagerrrrlllyyyy awaiting the time when i allow myself to cast on/start swatching my amazing noro kuryeon for aNOTHER scarf. i am a scarf whore, it's fine. also, neglecting my green cardi from knit1. it's cos its frickin woolease and its 80% acrylic and i hate it. it's nasty and plastic and it splits and you cant really block it. and a yarn snob is born.
if anyone has a good idea for a mother-in-law giftknit.... well then you win cos i dont have any.
